Direction:
We are located on highway 49 between the towns of Dadeville and Newsite.  The park is 5 miles south of Newsite and 12 miles north of Dadeville.

Operating Hours:

Visitor Center is open 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.;Tour Road is open 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.The park is closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

Description:
In the spring of 1814, General Andrew Jackson and an army of 3,300 men attacked 1,000 Upper Creek warriors on the Tallapoosa River. Over 800 Upper Creeks died defending their homeland. Never before or since in the history of our country have so many American Indians lost their lives in a single battle. This 2040-acre park preserves the site of the battle.

Activities
Hiking:
The nature trail is 2.8 miles long with hills and valleys. Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes if you decide to walk the trail. There are no water sources nor restrooms on the trail.

Picnicking: There are two picnic areas in the park. There is a large picnic area with shelters near the visitor center and a smaller picnic area at the boat ramp. Picnicing is not allowed on the battlefield.

Canoeing: Canoeing is a popular activity on the Tallapoosa River. Stop by the vistor center for more information. No camping is allowed in the park along the river.

Fishing: shore fishing is allowed at the boat ramp only.  An Alabama fishing lisence is required.
